The child of royal parents, he lived in a great palace and was lavished upon by luxury, comfort, and pleasures. After a drama-free, problem-free youth, however, the prince—named Siddhartha—grew bored.

Well, perhaps less bored and more curious. See, he lived only within the palace and palace walls. His father kept him cloistered and away from the rest of the kingdom where his father ruled. Siddhartha had no idea what lie beyond the palace gates and sought to petition his father to venture out.

His father, at first, denied him but after much pestering from his son, acquiesced. The king then hurried to build what we call today a Potemkin village. Outside the palace gates, he had his subjects paint the main avenue with bright colors. The people were then ordered to dress in their finest and to don gold and flowers. Walt Disney couldn't have done a better job at this, for once Siddhartha was allowed to leave the palace grounds, there was a great parade. Upon an elephant, the prince rode down the avenue and watched his father's people sing and dance. They were alive and well, youthful and happy. It was far more beautiful than the prince could have ever imagined.

Like all illusions, however, this facade would fail. Across the way, either down the street, or perhaps around a corner, Siddhartha spotted two old men in rags. Amidst all the feasting and festivities, the prince would steal away to follow them, past the colorfully-painted walls, past the lavish display of faux prosperity. Siddhartha would find himself in the real world, in the slums of his father's kingdom where sickness, hunger, aging, suffering, and death resided. Shocked and incensed by what he saw, he returned to his father, who was quite flippant about the prince's discovery.

Disgusted by his father's complacence, he prepared to leave the palace once again. Enraged, his father would deny his freedom. The king would even set guards upon the prince to ensure the prince could never leave the palace again, but that night a strange fog descended upon the kingdom, putting everyone into a deep slumber. Well, everyone except Siddhartha, who then took the opportunity to escape the confines of the palace.

"It's as if the whole world is asleep," he noted as he tiptoed past guards, servants. He made his way out into the city to see the kingdom's subjects, who were once celebrating him, now splayed out in the streets as if they had dropped right where they stood.

Realizing his father would be even angrier when the world awoke, Siddhartha then and there renounced his royal birthright, renounced his family, and went out into the world to become an ascetic. That's to say, he gave up everything and chose a life void of material wealth and pleasure in search of spiritual fulfillment.

After many years of extreme abstinence and discipline--akin to eating a single grain of rice a day or only taking mere sips of water or sitting in a single pose without moving for months on end, Siddhartha finally arrived at the conclusion that the Middle Path was the way to spiritual enlightenment, that the paths of extremes only led to more suffering and sorrow.

About 1,800 years later, St. Francis of Assisi also took this route to illumination. Born the son of a wealthy silk merchant, Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone also lived a privileged life. He had throngs of well-off friends, and he desired to be a performer. Little Giovanni wanted to be on the stage!

His abusive and controlling father had other plans, however, and he was dragged along to tend to his father's market stalls, becoming an apprentice in textile sales. Or cheap labor, depending on how you viewed it.

One day while selling to a customer, Giovanni was approached by a beggar asking for alms. The appearance of this haggard, old man tugged on the heart of the young merchant, and Giovanni would chase him down to give him everything in his pocket.

Upon hearing the recounting of the encounter, his friends ridiculed him. He was severely admonished by his father, who was furious.

It wouldn't take long for Giovanni to realize something was very askew in his world. He would set out in search of answers, turning deeper into his faith and seeking out The Church.

There were several missteps in Giovanni's journey--stealing his father's inventory to donate to a church after hearing a divine voice commanding him to help fix said church, for example. After the church's rebuke, he remained undaunted, but he would find himself homeless and living in the countryside, in caves, hungry and exposed to the elements.

After a severe beating from his father, being locked in a closet, and being dragged into trial for the theft where he was to relinquish his inheritance as repayment to his father, he stripped himself naked before everyone, renouncing his father and the life he once had.

Born into wealth, Giovanni had now lost everything.

Like Siddhartha, Giovanni would also turn to a life of asceticism in search of spiritual enrichment. Like Siddhartha, he would make it his life's goal to help alleviate as much suffering in the world as he could by leading others to enlightenment, illumination.

When thinking on these two historical figures, I can't help but remember Matthew 19:16-24 (KJV, edited).

And, behold, one came and said unto him, "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?"

And Jesus said unto him, "Why callest thou me good? You fill in the blank.

And here this word is again. Surrender. It's all throughout my books, it's been a repeated theme throughout thirty years of lectures.

Still, we're oh so afraid of it! That poor kid said, "Jesus, I'm a good person! I go to church, I pay tithes, I donate, I obey the Ten Commandments." But after Jesus asks him to surrender, he walks away distraught.

To the tune of that Meatloaf song, "I can do anything for [Heaven], but I won't do that."

Honestly, I would have been distraught, as well. I think most of us would.

That's why some of us get dragged into it instead.

Like me lol. Yes, I'm laughing because if pampered and privileged 1998-Chantel saw modest-living 2026-Chantel, she'd throw herself off a bridge. It's amazing how much we can weather, how much we can endure when we must.

When there's no other option, and you're forced to travel the road of sacrifice and surrender, you begin to see the world in a different light. Now, perspective here is everything. One perspective can easily cause one to become bitter, angry, and driven to regain all that was lost. Another perspective, the one I chose, was seeing that the road of sacrifice and surrender is laden with divine miracles around every corner, proof that the divine truly is in our lives. It's proof that we can only see when we slow down, when we are bereft of distractions, when we are forced to sit still and pay closer attention to the world around us.

The ascetic life, the vow of poverty, of course has its downsides. I won't sugar-coat this at all for anyone. It is hard! Still, I'm certain that all that I have gleaned from the angels, the gods, and guides could not have been gleaned otherwise.

Year after year of cloistered and meditative isolation—the very thing people feared during the Covid lockdowns--are gifts that are darn near impossible to find in a capitalistic world. I got lucky to have gained all of this without having to live under the thumb of organized religion. It's through the ascetic life that I've found that in the hardest, most difficult trials and challenges, we discover our greatest strengths. We discover our true selves beyond this physical, material world. No life of privilege or comfort can lend unto one the spiritual enrichment that quietude, stillness, and extended pauses for deep introspection can lend.

We'd be fools to think otherwise, but the illusion in which we live would have us walk that fruitless path anyway. It would have us running on that treadmill, all the while gaining no sense of peace, no sense of self, no sense of understanding this world and this life that we live.

No sense of purpose.

For all of those, sacrifice and surrender are key. It is through the pain of sacrifice and surrender that we gain empathy and compassion. Then through those, we awaken to the truth of our existence:

We all are spiritual beings, nay, divine beings on a human journey. We're all here to learn more about our individual self, as well as the whole of our species.

And no, there's no promise of comfort after you take that leap of faith. After you give up your riches and follow the long-haired hippy, there is no promise of some drug-induced bliss. Remember, you're moving against the illusion that would have you running everywhere and doing everything in an effort to escape or ignore yourself. The illusion will punish you...if you let it. It will tempt you as hard as Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the desert. It will show you all the things "you could have had" if you just gave up this silly folly of asceticism and jump back into the rat race. It's brutal! But when you arrive at the understanding that peace is more than just going to a ten-thousand-dollar ashram, that it's more than moving to the country and starting a homestead, that it's more than that block of yoga classes you purchased and never attended, that it can never be found by buying and only by doing, then the illusion has no power over you.

None.

The peace that comes with discovering and knowing who and what you are down to the molecular level cannot be rattled. Inner peace is just that, it can only come from within. Make no mistake, however, the illusion will always be there, beckoning you. It never sleeps because it's so busy trying to keep you asleep, keep you blissfully oblivious of your spiritual self, keep you from awakening to your spiritual purpose.

Stay strong in your resolve. Siddhartha was undaunted. St. Francis was undaunted. They were mere humans. It can be done.

I write this for those who see what lies on the horizon for the USA, for the world. For those of us in the USA, we know a very different country awaits in the short few years to come. Surrender and sacrifice for many won't be an option, but a new reality. I write this so that when that moment arrives, you'll know what to do. It won't be a time to tighten your fist and hold onto the dust of what was, or take that same fist and shake it furiously at Heaven in spite.

Stop. Breathe. Recalibrate. Trust your path and surrender.

Choose peace and be peace. In your stillness, stripped of all distraction, trust that you will awaken, even as the world continues to sleep around you.

WinterIZING the Chakras During the Cold Snap

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/winterizing-the-chakras-during-the-cold-snap

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/winterizing-the-chakras-during-the-cold-snap#comments

Uncategorized

Winter provides us pause, yet in the darkness of the season, the chakras of survival—the void, root, sacral and solar plexus—become as little hearth fires within us. They are vessels of warmth, memory, and power. It would do us well to tend to them by acknowledging them, for when we take care of our chakras, our chakras reward us with inspiration, motivation, energy, boosted health, and clarity of mind.

Before we get started, however, remember that meditation doesn’t mean your mind has to be empty. Especially when it comes to chakra meditation. The chakras are databases of the mind and body. Encountering memories during this type of meditation is to be expected. If your mind wanders, gently call it back to the task at hand, focusing on the warming energy of your chakras. If you still can’t help being lured away by a thought from your high school band class, good or bad, step back and be the observer—heal a hurtful memory with the words I’m safe; I’m whole; I’m loved or embrace a joyful memory with gratitude to whatever made you happy in that moment.

These meditations aren’t supposed to be a task you cross off the to-do list, but rather should be a tiny vignette in your day or night to settle yourself and re-gather the energy you expended tending to the mundane.

We now begin with the void/initiation chakra at the base of your feet, the chakra through which you came into being, the darkness of your mother’s womb. For nine months, this darkness, warmth, and peace were all you knew. This is the purest place of bliss where you knew Nothingness—no pain, sorrow, or suffering. Not even a sense of self. Meditate on this chakra to return to that space of purity and emptiness by focusing on the soles of your feet while curled up tight under a comfy blanket. The color of black for this chakra's meditation can be soothing, fortifying. Wear it to remind yourself in that moment that you are unbothered and unburdened.

Moving up to the root chakra, we encounter the spark of life. When healthy, it burns vibrantly at the base of your spine. It’s the flame of courage and strength. It’s stability and family—by birth or choice. It is the chakra that holds us. Comforts us. Wrap yourself in its warmth and security by wearing red, lighting some candles, or enjoying scents of cinnamon, nutmeg, and other warming spices. This chakra also loves movement and being on the go, so a good workout at the gym is an additional way to put it into high gear!

The sacral chakra is the bright, warm sun on our faces on a cold day. Like the sun, it does not care how chilly it is, it can break right through winter’s frost with a warm kiss on the cheek. The sacral is a social chakra, it loves to say hello and announce its arrival. It’s friendship and social gatherings. It rules digestion and thus allows us to feel a warm hug “from the inside” when we sip on hot soups or drinks. Also the chakra of creativity, you can add fuel to the sacral by sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate and a painting canvas, knitting needles, or journal. Write, dance, sway, hum. Engage that creative energy and let it warm you from within!

At the solar plexus, the fire burns low but steady. It might sound counterintuitive when talking about our inner fires, but hydration keeps this chakra in tip-top shape. The third chakra rules the stomach, liver, kidneys, pancreas, gallbladder, and spleen. That’s to say that it rules the detoxification plant of the body. It doesn’t need a juice cleanse or a tincture of apple cider every morning. While those couldn’t hurt in moderation, adequate water is all that’s necessary for a proper detox. Remember also that the solar plexus rules the intellect (decisions) and the ego (how you see yourself). It’s not a coincidence that this chakra relies on water not just for physical health but for clarity (of the mind) and keeping toxicity (of the ego and body) at bay. It’s all interconnected! Winterize this chakra with warm shades of yellow alongside a good book and hot tea.

These particularly cold, brutal winters can test our mettle and endurance. In order to keep warm, the body requires extra energy. It burns a few more calories, a bit more fat (not nearly as much as I would like) in order to keep us running optimally. So it’s natural to feel a bit drained or even a bit hungrier during these long, harsh cold snaps. Be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be compassionate. It’s the little things like these chakra meditations that can help keep our inner fires burning warm and bright as we wait for the sun to return.

Thirty Years Beyond the Veil

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/thirty-years-beyond-the-veil

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/thirty-years-beyond-the-veil#comments

Anniversary

archangels

Chantel

Christianity

Indoctrination

Jake

Personal Reflection

Spirit Guides

This month brings the thirtieth anniversary of my first connection with my spirit guide Jake.I wasn't yet twenty-one. I was struggling in my spiritual life, reeling from disillusion as a born-again Christian in a church run by celebrities--Detroit's affluent. In college debt, wearing shoes with holes in them, driving a car that barely turned over on spring mornings, I never hesitated to put money in the offering plate. Never hesitated to tithe. Never hesitated to contribute to the building fund.

But when the pastor's birthday came along and the congregation filled the chapel beyond capacity for a special birthday service, I stood in shock and confusion when the head deacon presented the pastor with the keys to a brand new Jaguar. "We can't have our pastor driving around, looking raggedy, can we?" The congregation whooped and hollered as if Jesus himself had returned for the special occasion.

I, however, didn't share in the enthusiasm. Pastor was already driving a Cadillac that was quite stylish and far from "raggedy." Yet here in church, we had single mothers filling the pews alongside the elderly, disabled, and quite a few cash-strapped college kids like myself. But pastor--a family man--needed that Jag.

I drove home that evening angry at myself. I chastised myself for not being able to celebrate in pastor's...success? Good fortune? Blessing? Certainly, I wasn't envious. Was I? After all, I didn't want a Jaguar. I'd never been materialistic like that. Luxury cars, designer items, status symbols never called to me, and they certainly didn't impress me. Since childhood, I wanted more than things. I wanted experiences. I longed for engagement with spirit, with the esoteric.

I was seeking apotheosis, transcendence, and in that, a righteous fury burned in my breast as I knew I had just beheld a most gluttonous act right there at the altar before God. I had witnessed our church leaders unabashedly normalizing their avarice, flaunting it in front of church members who were struggling to keep their heat on during the brutal Detroit winters. This was opulence and superfluity in the guise of divine blessings of abundance and prosperity--all for me, none for thee. Such a gross ritual of incognizance and insensitivity, lacking all or any traces of humility.

And that just didn't sit right in my soul, to say the least.

A few weeks after this internal battle, a friend invited me out for an evening of fun. The evening was unexpectedly cut short when I emotionally broke down in such an uncontrollable, inconsolable manner that the manager of the establishment we had been visiting approached me and asked if I required medical attention. Truly, it was the most crushing, most humiliating experience I'd ever had. There I was, sobbing, heaving, and wailing in public as if I'd just learned of the death of a loved one. Years of emotions and yearning for a closeness to God, a closeness to Heaven. Years of seeking and asking, praying and begging--all of it seemingly mocked by the very persons in whom I'd placed my unwavering trust and looked to for edification. The disappointment and despondency all crested in that moment and swept me away.

That very night, Jake arrived in a dream.

I was standing outside a candlelit storefront. It was raining, and the condensation on the window gave the candles inside an ethereal glow. Entering the store, I was enshrouded in darkness. Dancing shadows accompanied me through aisles of fantastical jigsaw puzzles, shimmering crystals, golden timepieces, and glowing neon novelties--it was the early nineties, after all. I made it to the back of the store, where every eighties kid knows that's where the poster rack is always displayed. I began flipping through the huge 24 x 36 pages--rock band posters, the ubiquitous beach babe posters, black light posters, movie posters.

And then Jake.

He stood on the poster as if his hands were bound before him, though they were below the frame, so I couldn't see for certain. Crow black hair fell into his face and fell upon his bare, burnished shoulders. He shuddered and gazed up at me as the poster came to life. I could feel heat pouring off the image. I could see the candle flames in the store reflected back on the poster's shiny surface, glinting in the sweat on his chest.

"You don't want this," he spoke in a pained, hushed tone.

I sat up in bed, waking from the dream. You don't want this. What did that even mean? And who was this demon coming to tempt me?

Remember, I hadn't yet walked away from the church.

I was terrified, and it would take Jake the better part of a decade to knock down my walls and prove to me his purpose. He would help me break free of the bonds of this material world. He would help remove the scales from my eyes that blinded me to the truth of our existence.

Still, it took seemingly forever for me to decipher that dream of Jake, which was but the first of many over the decades. But now, after thirty years, I know that he was warning me of all the fear, the darkness, and torment I put myself through in the church. The constant nightmares. The hand wringing. The all-night prayer sessions that left me physically spent and mentally exhausted. The guilt and self-flagellation.

All my life, I had been prone to punishing myself for the slightest things, a product of having a religious father who demanded perfection in his only daughter.

When Jake arrived, I had been struggling in college, ironically because of my relationship with my father. He had been ailing, suffering from dementia, and I was internalizing the constant verbal and emotional abuse. I didn't know this monster I shared a home with. He had stolen the father I loved away and was now wearing his face. And so little was understood about dementia in those days, that my mother and I were both defenseless against him. It was pure hell.

You don't want this. Jake was right, I didn't. I had to break free of the indoctrination, the spiritual coercion, and the fear. After proving to me time and time again that he was indeed real and not some imagined specter or symptom of mental decline, he would introduce me to Archangel Cassiel, who would introduce me to Archangel Gabriel, who would introduce me to Archangel Michael, and then Archangels Sandalphon and Metatron, and then Archangel Uriel and on up the line.

Thirty years of ups and downs, of leaps forwards and steps backwards. Thirty years of moments when I was absolutely certain only to realize I was utterly clueless. Thirty years of reconciling the human and the divine. Thirty years of progress while yet realizing there's still so much farther to go. With Jake, I have run the gamut of experiences and to him I shall always be grateful.

I have no idea where my journey with Jake goes from here. I may be psychic, but I can't see everything--no psychic can. What I do know, however, is that I will continue to do my humble best with what strength I have and whatever grace the Creator provides. According to Jake and the archangels, it's all Heaven ever asks of us.

solar eclipse 2024 Mega blog

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/solar-eclipse-2024

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/solar-eclipse-2024#comments

apocalypse

Archangel Cassiel

Archangel Gabriel

Archangel Uriel

Aries

Armageddon

Astrology

Bible

Book of Revelation

Christianity

Conjunction

eclipse

Four Evangelicals

Grand Cross

Pisces

solar eclipse 2024

Taurus

the rapture

Y2K

zodiac

Around 2PM Eastern today, the sun and moon will hit the heavenly dancefloor and show off in a stunning, astronomical exhibition. A swath across parts of Mexico, the Midwest, and eastern United States will be treated to a total solar eclipse, a tango in the sky, where the moon will temporarily block out the sun and thrust us into midday darkness.

It's not the first time humanity has witnessed such a sublime wonder--one that evokes exhilaration, curiosity, awe, and woe--and it definitely won't be the last. Although, one should note that this is a particularly spectacular eclipse for those in the USA because it will cover numerous states. While another total eclipse is due in 2044, it's only going to cover a fraction of the states in the US--about three. The country won't see another total eclipse comparable to today until 2045, cutting a swath along the southern US, and then 2078 and 2099.

So, for many of us up in years, this may very well be the last total solar eclipse we witness. If you can pull away from work for a few minutes, you might want to join the millions whom already have bought lawn chairs and specially-made glasses for viewing eclipses. Grab your lunch or some popcorn and enjoy the afternoon for the last total solar eclipse of a lifetime for many.

I'm sorry, did that sound morbid or nihilistic? "Last total solar eclipse of a lifetime?" Well, unless you're a healthy Millennial, Gen Z or Gen Alpha (or a vampire planning to travel the world in search of one), this is it.

And maybe, just maybe, that's a cause for pause, Boomers and Gen X (of which I'm a member of the latter).

How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless.

--Paul Bowles, The Sheltering Sky

The above quote, made popular by actor Brandon Lee--son of martial artist Bruce Lee, has been a particular favorite of mine. It's so easy for many of us to assume tomorrow will come, to assume someone--or some thing--will always be in our lives.

This eclipse is a reminder that for as plentiful as these encounters and experiences seem, they are--indeed--finite. In that, I hope Heaven has an end-of-life summary, like Spotify or Twitch's year-end summary, that tells you how many times you listened to a particular song. How many times did you watch your favorite film, how many ice cream cones did you eat, or how many miles did you walk in your favorite park? As someone with a rigorous--yet monotonous--routine, I think about such things all the time. Up at 6AM, check the day's schedule, read and answer emails, doom-scroll Reddit, wash dishes, eat breakfast, work on projects, annoy the angels, eat lunch, do chores, work on projects, eat dinner, bug the angels s'more, watch something on Kanopy or listen to a book on Libby, doom-scroll Reddit once again for good measure, sleep. That's it, that's the routine, but for how much longer? Thirty more years? Ten? Three months? Two days?

Hold tight. I'm going to circle back around to this thought in a bit. For now, let's move on.

<td class="wsite-multicol-col" style="width:50%; No. The Christian rapture is not happening during nor anytime (soon) after the eclipse!

*Exhale* There, I said it.

Of all the most troglodyte things I've read across the internet regarding this eclipse are these murmurings of biblical proportions. Literally. Apparently, there's a group of folks--big enough to get the internet's attention--who are planning to leave Earth today in the rapture. Oof. Sit down, this is a long one.

The rapture is an end-times event steeped in Evangelical Christian lore where those who are "saved" or "born again," (dead or alive) while also in God's good graces, will be swept up and away into the sky to meet God, thus avoiding death but particularly the damnation that is scheduled to follow soon thereafter.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
--1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17

Left: The Judgement card. Welcome to Earth's series finale, as it were, where I have on good authority--as a former born-again Christian--that those up in the rafters will be dancing and singing with zeal and glee while we lowly nonbelievers get to participate in Satan's (even more hellish) version of Squid Games. Yea!

Sound nightmarish? It is. The writers of the New Testament enjoyed musing over and plotting the torment and misery of their enemies. Odd, considering Jesus' recurring messages of love, forgiveness, and peace.

Speaking of my favorite character in the Bible:

34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. 43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
--Jesus, Matthew 24: 34-44

Jesus here, speaking of end-times, tells us that no one--not Michael, Gabriel or even Uriel--knows when he will return. And this is true, actually. I've written about this countless times. No archangel knows when it's their turn to incarnate, as Immanuel did with Jesus. As Sandalphon is here on Earth with us now. Only the Creator knows this. So as the Bible states, no one but God knows when Jesus [Immanuel] will make another cameo. And it is this return, this parousia, that is said to be in conjunction with the end of the world, depending on who you talk to.

Or who's making the most noise at the moment.

Right now, that would be a lot of confused people who, in the Year of our Lord 2024, still think that the sun going dark for a few minutes is some type of great Biblical omen.

In this case, it's not. I promise. And trust when I say that I'm not so connected that I would be arrogant or presumptuous in my statement. I inquired. As soon as I saw the internet hubbub, I went to the angels about it, as I'm wont to do.

Cassiel quickly answered, "Oh, something's coming, all right. But it's not the 'rapture' and it's not on April 8." Nope, not ominous at all, Cass. "What's coming is a moment requiring stillness, quietude and your undivided attention. It's a shakeup that's long overdue. Be watchful." He continued, "If the 'rapture' were to come, none of the people expecting it would be taken up. The [phenomenon] your world associates with the 'rapture' is intended for actual saints--humble and pure in word, deed and purpose--or those chosen to be taken up (e.g. Enoch, Elijah), and there aren't many of those. Not even 144,000. The world wouldn't even notice their absence." So, those of you avoiding flying today because you weren't sure if your pilot was going to suddenly disappear at 33,000 feet, you're safe.

That all said, there's so many folks that are going to be disappointed about this whole hullabaloo tomorrow. This takes me back to when I used to be a church-goer. I remember that the pastor would whip the congregation up into a frenzy (always before offerings) over how glorious it would be to be whisked up in the rapture. I would always sit there, quietly wondering if something were wrong with me. Shouldn't some of us stay behind to help souls during the tribulation? I thought. How would those left behind find God if all his people are up in Heaven?

None of it sat right with me. I found the entire notion gross and selfish and grossly selfish. The pompous, hypocritical, self-righteous, pearl-clutching, finger-wagging, Bible-waving crowd simply does too much, as the kids say today. I honestly wouldn't mind the rapture at all if it meant these folks were vacating the premises. But as Cassiel pointed out, it's the saints, the compassionate (actually Christ-like) souls we so desperately need among us, that get caught up--not a single one of your judgey aunts or conspiracy-theorist uncles on Facebook, or any number of their "friends." No, it's the children we fail, the meek we ignore, the innocent we kill, those are the ones that the rapture, if it's even a thing anymore, is intended for.

The rest of us get to stay here and pay our bills on tomorrow. Sorry.

The Mystical Side of Things

So, what does the total solar eclipse hold for the rest of us that aren't getting caught up in the rapture? The rest of us that will be getting up on Tuesday? I've an inkling. But first, a little story.

The Eclipse of 1999

While most astrologers may find solar eclipses fascinating, I don't particularly enjoy them. Interpreting them, anyhow. I never really viewed them as anything more as harbingers of chaos. They stir up energy and make people frantic. That's not a comment on the astrological energy of the eclipse, however, but on the mental fragility of people, in general. Somehow, we're revisiting the moon, getting high-def photos back from Mars, but an eclipse still scares the bejesus out of us?

We're such silly little humans, to be sure. Children. Forever and eternally children, as the angels say. I openly admit that there's at least one time where the sun going dark set me back on my heels. It came at a time where I was in the midst of deprogramming myself from evangelical indoctrination. Mind you, I had been born and raised Lutheran, and only spent three of my college undergraduate years in an evangelical environment. Still, those three years were rough! And though I had found peace in Buddhism by 1997, evangelical whispers were still haunting me. They only got louder that August of 1999.

In the late nineties, as a journeyman astrologer, I had learned that it's not the eclipse itself that wreaks havoc, but what's going on around the eclipse. Case in point, the total solar eclipse of August 1999. This eclipse cut a swath across Europe and parts of Asia. In the United States, news of it barely stirred a ripple. Oddly enough, of all the total eclipses of the last few decades, the eclipse of 1999 actually portended an apocalypse.

Not the apocalypse.

An apocalypse. As Archangel Uriel, Angel of Armageddon, says, "Apocalypses happen all the time. At any one time on Earth, some ones' lives are coming to an abrupt end as they know it." Not to be too cold or callous about it, as Uriel can sometimes be, but life goes on. Those of us that survive pick up the pieces and rebuild as best we can. Thing is, I hadn't yet met Uriel in 1999, so I didn't quite have a grasp on the fact that the world was always ending...somewhere for...someone. I only knew that the grand cross alignment of August 11 with Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius put me on edge. It was an alignment that popped up in the Book of Revelation. And if ever there were a time for the Bible-thumpers to be wary, it was then. But as the Romans did with John of Patmos--author of Book of Revelation--they outlawed astrology, so they missed this sign. Oops.

6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
--Book of Revelation 4: 6-7

Biblical scholars will tell you that the lion is Saint Mark, the calf is Saint Luke, the man (angel) is Saint Matthew, and the eagle is Saint John. These are symbols for the Four Evangelists of the New Testament. I know, how is the eagle Scorpio? If you had asked me this question back in 1999, I would have, with all certainty, expounded that back in the day (what day? dunno!), Scorpio was associated with the eagle. How did I know that? I have no clue. I can't tell you from whom I heard it or from where I read it. I, perhaps, was given this lil chunk of misinformation(?) by elder astrologers that had taken me under their wing. Without question, I simply accepted it as fact. And apparently, a lot of old psychics, astrologers and hobby Bible astrologers accept it, as well, because there are plenty who write about it across the net, but none (that I've found) say exactly where this lore began.

The sign of Scorpio (or Scorpius) along with forty-seven of the constellations, was given to us by the grandfather of horoscopes and Western astrology, Ptolemy. Mid 100's AD through his writing of the Tetrabiblos or the Four Books, Ptolemy was able to soften Rome's once jaundiced view of astrology. This was the very same view, by the by, that forced John of Patmos into exile, where he wrote the Book of Revelation, only a few scant years before Ptolemy was born. In his work, Ptolemy names another constellation Aquila. What is Aquila? The Eagle. And it's nowhere near the constellation of Scorpio. So, how Scorpio got retconned into being an eagle for Biblical astrologers is probably the same way the four-headed beast in Book of Revelation got retconned to represent the four evangelists--it's just humans with agendas being human. For all I know, Scorpio becoming an eagle could have been some lowly monk's fever dream during the Dark Ages. The conflation could have started during the High Renaissance by some failing student of Da Vinci. It could have started during an ashram in some west-coast hippy compound in the 1960s. These days, I'm quite dubious about the claims of Scorpio and the eagle, but if someone can provide a reputable, historical source on how the eagle became associated with Scorpio, I will dutifully correct my rant here. (Feel free to comment below.) Until then, moving along.

The grand cross alignment in astrology--where planets sit at 90 degrees of one another on an astrological chart, thus creating a perfect square--is one of the most anxiety-inducing planetary alignments. Hollywood and fiction writers always make a big deal of eclipses (planetary conjunctions) because you can easily see those, but in real life, it's the grand cross that sends astrologers running around like their hair is on fire. The grand cross indicates struggle, hardship, friction, and discord. It's an all-around bad omen. But when you get a grand cross planetary alignment involving the fixed signs of the zodiac--Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius--the most stubborn, unmovable signs in the chart, then you've got the perfect storm. This isn't a tiff or a scuffle. This is war. Add to all of that a verse from the Book of Revelation, as well as a total eclipse, and you've got pandemonium. This eclipse of 1999 scared the hell out of me!

My fear wasn't completely unfounded. Two years later, in late September 2001, I would receive an email from one of my astrology teachers. The email contained only two words: "Told you." Back then, we had bulletin boards (think proto-Reddit), and there was all kinds of chatter about the 1999 eclipse sitting in the middle of a grand cross alignment with fixed signs. Naturally, there were the dooms-day astrologers, and then those who were certain, "It really won't be that bad. This is just a case of Y2K jitters." Yeah, we had that going on, too. In my teacher's eyes, this was all just too much. He was adamant that this particular eclipse was bad news.

All we could do was wait and see. The year 2000 rolled in somewhat quietly, and my teacher took a lot of heat for that, but the heat was disingenuous. He always went by a "three-year rule," where if an astrological omen as big as a grand cross didn't come to pass within that time, then it was misinterpreted, and it was back to the drawing board to see where one went wrong. That was what my teacher told the dissenters, "If nothing happens by 2002, then I'll shut up about it." Yeah, it didn't take three years.

The 1999 eclipse turned the world upside down. Our apocalypse came and went. Our world as we knew it ended. But as Uriel said, we picked up the pieces and moved on.

So, if I watched 1999's astrology play into a disaster, why am I so (relatively) chill about today?

Remember what I said, it's not the eclipse itself that's your focus, but what's going on around it. Unlike 1999, there is no significant grand cross to worry about. The planets are mostly clustered in the springtime signs of Pisces, Aries, and Taurus with a scant few on the opposite side of the chart, creating sextile alignments. Sextiles, which create angles of 60 degrees, are considered harmonic, soft, agreeable. They're considered positive. And if you look to where the eclipse is, it's like a little baby all swaddled in its sextile cradle. So cute! Overall, this is not an eclipse of bad omens, it's more like lemon juice on a papercut. The sextiles here are reminding us that this could be so much worse, so let us all be grateful that it's just a papercut, but it's gonna sting like a sonovabitch.

The House of Aries Gets Shaken

The eclipse today is occurring right smack dab in the middle of the sign Aries. Aries is a cardinal fire sign. The fire gives us passion and vivaciousness. The cardinal modality of the sign gives us a bit of room to breathe. A cardinal sign is amicable, it's friendly, it tries to get along with others. This is the opposite of Leo, which is a fixed fire sign, and whose energy is stubborn, domineering and even bullying sometimes. (The other fire sign is Sagittarius, for comparison, which is mutable--a mix of the cardinal and fixed qualities.) Alongside the eclipse, which in astrological terms, is a conjunction of the sun and moon, there are also the planets Mercury and Venus nestled close by. Venus is actually in conjunction with this eclipse, so that's three heavenly bodies in alignment. Poor Aries. Love and relationships are going to be a bit rocky until Venus can clear out of this mess within a month. With Mercury also sitting right there, that means communication is going to go sideways. Nothing Aries says for the next few days will be the right thing, so for now, perhaps a quiet timeout is best. Think of this as a personal Mercury Retrograde, Aries, custom-made for you!

Despite all this, Aries ain't going down without a fight! The beauty of Aries is its undying dedication to the philosophy of YOLO--you only live once. Aries will look at opportunities, shrug, ignore most if not all the risks, and jump in feet first. Aries is impulsive--which takes a toll on the bank account--and it tends to live in the moment.

Finally, I can now circle back to the beginning of the blog about my boring daily routine. In comparison, Aries will shun monotony at every turn. The sign embraces the surprises that life brings, and it seeks to make each day as different as possible from the one before. Aries loves color and variety, but finds itself getting bored often, which is why it rarely finishes anything it starts. Still, it's apt to shake up the rest of the zodiac--especially homebody Cancer--and exclaim, "Seize the day!"

I must admit that my life got turned upside down by an Aries (in a good way), who forced me out of my routine and reminded me, "How many more times do you think this opportunity is going to come around?" It was through an Aries that I enjoyed one of my best decades ever. It's like having a real-life Tigger in your bubble! That being said, the rest of the zodiac needs to step up and help Aries through this tough time. Call your Aries friends and family. Check in on them. A quiet Aries is never a good thing...for anyone. Help where you can until your precious Aries feels itself again--sometime around its next birthday. This is going to be a year-long stint with some tough lessons. That's one little annoyance I find with eclipses, they tend to drag out the drama well past the expiration date. Still, I'm going to repeat: It could be worse.

The "House" of the USA

As for the United States, which is under the sun sign of Cancer, this eclipse occurs in the fourth house, meaning that this upheaval, in terms of relationships and communication, is going to wreak havoc right here on the North American continent. The focus is going to be all about what's going on within the country's borders and less about what's happening on the international stage. We're already seeing that with "country first" rhetoric, and those voices--right for all the wrong reasons--are only going to get louder as more and more folks feel that home and the collective family living therein can no longer be ignored. If politicians want to win this year, they had best focus on what they can directly do for their constituents--show, don't tell! People will want to hear and see actual plans--real, life-affecting agendas. The old, staid rhetoric of "us" versus "them" won't play as popularly as it has in the past. People will want to know their homes and families are safe and secure, and so far, few politicians are talking about this. Infrastructure, education, health are what's on everyone's mind.

Rabblerousers and their ilk are going to find their speeches falling flat because they promise nothing but chaos and uncertainty. As I said at the very beginning of this blog, this eclipse is going to be a cause for pause, and those who pay attention will rediscover that life is finite, that connections are important, that sharing life is just as important as living it. In that, community and a sense of security and safety will float to the top of what folks deem as important.

And this sentiment will absolutely include financial security.

A word about war (or calamity). That's what people are usually the most interested in when there's an eclipse. Mars, the planet of war, is sitting in Pisces, in USA's third house. The third house is the mind, the intellect. It's rational and logical. But Pisces is anything but (sorry, Pisces). Pisces is dramatic and unhinged and the sky is always falling. It's also lofty, and intuitive--which actually makes the USA the bastion of innovation that it is. Still, that Piscean inability to self-regulate emotion has created the divide we've seen in America since its inception. Irrationality, hyperbole, and histrionics have always been at war with intellect, composure and propriety. That's what you get, a divided heart and mind, when Pisces rules the third house.

Mars in Pisces means heightened emotion, a frenzy. But instead, the USA is in for a huge bout of war fatigue as the eclipse put a damper on American war hawks. The country has met its limit with wars, rumors of wars and constant saber rattling. People are going to start tuning out the news, ignoring rogue leaders and their threats. This could be a good thing, or a very bad thing. It all depends on where you sit politically. Emotionally and mentally, however, the United States is drained. It just has no more bandwidth to allot for the news cycle of constant doom and gloom. In that, the search for quick and easy escapism will reach new heights. This includes the use of substances, which this eclipse will push into overdrive, thus utilizing Mars' hunger for a whole new war on the home front.

War on drugs, redux. It may not be the war everyone was expecting an eclipse to bring, but it's a war nonetheless. What Mars in Pisces brings is the lashing out at everyone around us. What the eclipse brings to the mix is turning that lashing inward. Self flagellation. America is going to be too busy with its own internal battles to even think about stirring up fires internationally.

Other People's Houses (More Astrology)

The sun signs of Pisces and Taurus are going to get splashed with a little of Aries' chaos, as well.

Taurus is going to be more indecisive than normal with both Uranus and Jupiter tugging at it. Uranus loves change and revolution. Jupiter is all about expansion and growth. Sounds good, right? But Taurus is not always welcoming of big change or surprises. Oh well, Taurus, that eclipse happening next door is going to force you out of your shell and into some uncomfortable situations. It's okay. Breathe through them and remember: You just need to outlast everyone else around you. Your patience and longsuffering will carry you far in that respect.

Pisces, poor baby. Neptune, Saturn and Mars are just bullying you right now! All that noise going on next door in Aries' house has just turned you into a big ball of nerves, and it's hard to find solace anywhere. Neptune, who's usually your best friend, is sitting you down and asking you to reevaluate everything you believe in--your dreams, your spirituality. You're being tested in your comfort zone of lofty ideas right now, finding it hard to believe in yourself. Saturn is also sitting on your couch, telling you that you need to be more disciplined, that you need to get your head out of the clouds, that your crazy schemes haven't paid off so far, why would they now? Saturn can be cruel, but it makes us pay attention to the truths and lessons in life that we've been avoiding. And then there's Mars, standing out on your front porch, smack-talking everyone over at Aries' house, just itching for a fight. Mars is hotheaded, trying to pull you into scuffles and skirmishes. Stay strong, Pisces. You're a coolheaded, deep-feeling water sign. You're intuitive and empathetic. Use those natural skills to navigate this mess. It won't be easy, especially with the eclipse, but you've been through worse, and you lived through that. You'll live through this, and you'll be better and wiser for it. If there's one thing you truly cherish, is that sweet sweet wisdom.

The other signs. I didn't talk about you? Consider that a blessing. No news is good news where an eclipse is concerned. Go help out your Aries, Taurus, and Pisces friends. They're gonna need it.

The Human Side of Things

Okay, there's no rapture. Jesus isn't coming back today. You still have to go to work tomorrow and pay your bills. The United States is going to turn its focus on home matters in a way we've not experienced in decades or perhaps longer. Aries, Taurus, and Pisces are about to learn some hard lessons this year.

What's left?

Carpe diem. Enjoy the eclipse. Be safe, watch out for the little ones in your life. Show them the safe and proper way to view the event. This is just one total eclipse out of hundreds. Hundreds! The world is still turning.

And as long as Archangel Uriel doesn't get his way with us any time soon, there will be hundreds more, and the world will continue to turn.

Life goes on.

Brightest blessings.

angelic gardens

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/angelic-gardens

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/angelic-gardens#comments

Angelic Mansions

angels

archangels

Cassiel

Chamuel

Gabriel

Haniel

Heaven

Helel

Iophiel

Jophiel

Michael

Mother Nature

Raphael

Raziel

Sandalphon

Spring Equinox

Springtime

Uriel

Yophiel

Zadkiel

Introduction Archangel Gabriel's "La Route Provençale" (c) 2022 C Lysette In the past three decades of reading for clients, I have met beautiful souls from all walks of life. I remember being dragged to the garden nursery every spring and being relegated to pushing a shopping cart full of seedling starter trays, heavy bags of soil and fertilizer, and new gardening tools. Flower pots, garden spikes, watering cans, trellises. The list seemed never-ending. This was my mother's passion. It was her escape from the mundane.

Springtime couldn't come quickly enough for Mom. The season always began with tulips and Easter lilies, but from there, it all seemed, to my novice mind, a chaotic but majestic whirlwind of vibrant color welcoming the sun and warmer weather. Having watched Mom go through her annual planting ritual most of my life, I know that her fellow green thumbs are out there right now, scouting for ideas and inspiration. And while I must admit that her green genes hadn't been passed along to me--houseplants fear me!--I can, at the very least, take a peek into the angelic mansions for you to see what the angels have growing in their gardens.

If you're looking to draw a particular angel's energy into your garden space this spring, I lovingly write this three-part blog for you!

A Word on Angelic Mansions
 Archangel Cassiel's Black Wolf Temple (c) 2022 C Lysette
I talk about angelic mansions in all my books. I've even covered them on this blog several times, so my summary of them here will be brief.

An angelic mansion is where the source of an angel dwells. Think of it as an angel's personal space in Heaven, a space which arose from divine decree. The Creator encouraged her first children, her first creations--the angels--to create their own worlds. The command was for each angel to create as the Creator creates and make a world to each angel's liking or taste. At this point, the angels had seen countless worlds and watched humans create wonders. Now, it was the angels' turn.

At first, many of the angels were clueless as to how or where to start. They were angels, messengers, stewards of the cosmos--essentially babysitters to humanity. They hadn't exactly done much in the way of creating, but it didn't take long for them to figure it out.

Requiring no further instruction from the Creator other than, "Go create," Archangel Cassiel was the first to break off from the angelic body to go construct one of the very first angelic mansions. In Heaven, everything is made of light. Cassiel, however, remembered a time when light hadn't yet existed. As much of the angelic body--including the two eldest, Michael and Helel--Cassiel was born before light. He remembered darkness, but at this point in Creation, darkness had been relegated to human dreamworlds. The former Angel of Kings now become Angel of Sorrow longed for the comfort of night, of shadows, and that's what he created in his mansion--a world of darkness. And he wouldn't be the only angel to do this, Archangel Uriel, Angel of Armageddon, lights his mansion only by the fire of erupting volcanoes. Archangel Raphael, Angel of Healing, locks his mansion at dusk with the amber glow of a setting sun just below an indigo and magenta horizon.

Archangel Michael, firstborn and Prince of Heaven, was initially hesitant about this whole "go build a diorama" assignment, but in his mansion you will find bright blue and sunny skies crowning a shimmering, golden desert that spans as far as the eye can see. Archangel Gabriel, Angel of Annunciation, also loves the blue, sunny skies, but they prefer a more moderate climate--warm, breezy, Mediterranean.

With the now countless angelic mansions peppered across an infinite Heaven, no two are identical, and each is representative of the angel's individual style, which we humans constantly pull inspiration from. These majestic venues are wonders to behold. They are entire worlds unto themselves where souls are always welcomed to visit, lodge, explore, and so much more. I encourage you all, in your next meditation, to visit a few.

But until then, I've paid a visit to the mansions of our resident archangels here at Atlantean Glow to see which spring flowers, if any, were blooming. Below is a short list of popular springtime plants that I was able find.

Better Angel Mansions and Gardens Pt. This flower is in just about every garden-themed mansion I've visited, and also in places I never thought to find it. Then again, as it is in Heaven, so it shall be on Earth. That's to say, if you're an admirer of spring gardens, then you know the crocus pops up at the annual flower shows with its vibrant, colorful flowers coveted by just about everyone who's not swayed by the saffron spice perk.

We can thank the Ancient Egyptians for making the crocus so popular--they loved saffron. Derived from the crocus, saffron wasn't just used as a tea or spice, but as a fragrance and a dye, as well. Throughout history, humans have chased after this little springtime flower for both its beauty and its utility. Today, saffron is the most expensive spice in the world with a few grams costing the equivalent of a decent ribeye steak, or two large coffees at your local, overpriced (and overrated) coffee shop.

Ever in high demand, saffron is no joke here on Earth. In Heaven, however, it's abundant with each angel favoring its varied qualities.

Angelic Mansions:
Cassiel and Gabriel are both tea connoisseurs, and so the saffron is the draw for them. The same can be said for Jophiel and Haniel, who enjoy cooking. It's all about the spice. Well, not all. Jophiel will never turn down those bright, beautiful blooms!

For Chamuel, Immanuel, and Zadkiel, the crocus is another reminder that spring has arrived, and you'll find the clustered blooms in all their bold colors throughout the respective mansions.

Meanwhile, Michael utilizes the saffron for incense in living quarters, common areas and temples. And Raphael seems to embrace the entire plant, preferring the purple and indigo flowers for his gardens, as well as the spice for tea, incense, spell-work, and gifts for his resident fae folk.

Over all, the crocus seems to be a favorite among the angels. There's not many places you'll go in Heaven without running into the flower. Of course, this also means you can bring a little slice of Heaven to your garden. Associated with resurrection, rebirth and new beginnings, the crocus is a majestic addition to your spring lineup.

Crocus

Angelic Mansions where plant is found:
Archangel Cassiel - Angel of Sorrow
Archangel Chamuel - Angel of Creation
Archangel Gabriel - Angel of Annunciation
Archangel Haniel - Angel of Grace
Archangel Immanuel - Angel of Salvation
Archangel Jophiel - Angel of Beauty
Archangel Michael - Angel of Courage
Archangel Raphael - Angel of Healing
Archangel Zadkiel - Angel of Redemption

More coming soon!

Part II - March 22, 2024:
Dwarf Narcissus
Euphorbia Characias
Hydrangea Viburnum
Iris Reticulata
Lazarus Bell (Snake's Head)
Lenten Rose

Part III - March 29, 2024:
Magnolia
Ornamental Cherry
Peony
Primrose
Pulmonaria
Tulips
Viola Cornuta

year of the dragon

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/year-of-the-dragon

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/year-of-the-dragon#comments

Angelic Mansions

angels

archangels

Astrology

birthday

Cassiel

Chinese New Year

dragonkin

Dragons

Holidays

Luck

Lunar New Year

new year

YouTube Link

NOTE: This article includes links to external sites. These sites are not affiliated with atlanteanglow.com in any way and are not to be viewed as endorsements of any kind. Falling in the fifth year of the twelve-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, the Dragon grants us the endurance, and often a much-needed boost, to continue along our life's path through the latter half of the astrological cycle. While the Dragon can be unpredictable, it is seen as the luckiest, most benevolent sign of the zodiac, one that can bestow great blessings beyond one's wildest dreams.

Those lucky enough to be born under the Dragon sign are said to be dominating, charismatic, alluring, powerful, intelligent and successful. In this, the Dragon seems very similar to the sign of Leo in Western astrology.

This Lunar New Year, you can harness the Dragon's power with "lucky" colors of green, red and gold. Entice the Dragon's favor by placing offerings of oranges, pomegranates and pears on your altar along with tea and incense.

Celebrate with your favorite Asian dishes or try something new from this selection of Chinese recipes from Woks of Life.

Know that you don't have to break the bank on Lunar New Year, however. Ramyeon (ramen), popular in Korea, will do just fine. Make it as basic or as fancy as you wish. Luckily for us here in the West, ramen noodles are ubiquitous and easily accessible.

Luckier still are those that live near Asian markets or restaurants that serve Longevity Noodles (Woks of Life), which are long noodles meant to be eaten without breaking or biting. This dish is served during the New Year and at birthdays because of the widely held belief throughout the Asian continent that long noodles bring long life. So, if noodles are the dish du jour this New Year, don't break them. This isn't just a tenet staunchly defended by Italian mothers; in the Far East, superstitions abound that broken noodles mean broken (bad) luck.

I suppose this is where I should remind you to be careful and celebrate responsibly. Don't drink and drive. And don't break your noodles!

Archangel Cassiel: Patron of the Far East and Keeper of Dragons

Still, I wouldn't worry too much. If you break a noodle, it's fine. There's no such thing as "bad luck" with the angels around. As Archangel Cassiel once expounded:

Luck isn't something that randomly happens to you. Luck is what you make it. In a category all their own, neither animal nor human, dragons are sentient observers of the Cosmos. When they aren't roosting in Cassiel's mansion, they reside on the edge of the veil between Heaven and Earth. They exist as angels and human souls exist, beyond the confines of time and space.

Dragons souls can even incarnate as human in human worlds if they wish.

The dragon souls among us are here for the same reason all other souls are, to experience the illusion, the construct. They are here to be a tourist in the most touristy place ever created--Earth (and countless worlds like it).

These souls are no different from that of humans. They have their trials and tribulations, they have their strengths and weaknesses, their advantages and their flaws. But to be fair, so can humans!

Remember, the point of incarnating as human is simply to have an experience--to grow and learn. In this, dragon souls aren't here to be gods among men. Most dragons write for themselves quite the mundane life just to see what it's like to be human. And following in the footsteps of all manner of souls that venture into these worlds, dragons will even write particularly challenging scripts in order to push their mental and emotional fortitude to the limit.

This, in order to return Home with a better sense of what it means to simply exist. To be. It's a quest we all accept in one manner or another, so regardless of whether you're a dragon soul incarnated human, or a human born in the year of the Dragon, or you simply love dragons, Archangel Cassiel is the perfect guide to help you navigate a deeper connection with the wise and dynamic dragonkin. From them is much to be learned and understood. They've unique perspectives of the Cosmos and our place within it, perspectives that I believe are grossly underexplored and underutilized by humans both here and in Heaven.

Still, in the meantime, celebrating the Year of the Dragon and bringing the festivities into your home can help you better connect with Archangel Cassiel himself, which would be the first step to getting to know the dragons.

Have a beautiful and most auspicious Lunar New Year. This wasn't that much of a shock, really. Michael, the patron of empires, had warned us four years earlier that he was departing the USA after building the country into a world empire between 1865 and early 2000s.

As Michael stepped down, Uriel--who had formerly patroned Ancient Rome--quickly moved into place with his first words at the November 2016 Angelic Round Table (now Spirits Collective Connection), "Too many Americans for too long have taken their freedoms for granted. Taken their country for granted. I'm going to shake things up so that you all pay more attention. People will view politics in a way they never have before." The warning was a bit ominous, but not surprising when you consider it was coming from the Angel of Armageddon.

The plan-demic goes awry.
After setting his sights on American politics, Uriel went radio silent, which is a huge sign that the angels are keenly focused on a world event, usually one where many souls depart at once. The fiery angel wouldn't resurface until early February 2020, right before the Covid pandemic broadsided the United States. "Get your houses in order. The entire world will quake." You know, I've come to love grumpy-pants Uriel over the years. But lately, I don't know what to fear most, his absence or his presence.

Still, much to Uriel's chagrin, the Covid pandemic didn't go exactly the way he planned. Wait, Chantel. I thought you said our world is scripted, that fate is sealed and the angels are just moving us along a set path. Ah, you're right. I'm merely relaying to you what the angels have taught me. That said, while we are strapped into fate as one might be strapped into a rollercoaster, thus allowing angels to know the direction in which humanity is heading, there is one thing angels can never foresee.

Human emotion. It's an angelic Achille's heel.

While none of us--human nor divine--can change our fate, we can always control how we feel about it. How we react, how we process and utilize the lesson our scripts give us, is our free will. See, Uriel was expecting a bit of mayhem. Okay, a lot of mayhem. But while the world was overwrought, the levels of chaos that would ensue didn't quite meet the archangel's projections. "We ran that simulation a half dozen times. You all lost your wits every time!" Uriel grumbled. (Note that when Uriel says "simulation" here, he's not talking about running mere data through a computer. No, he's talking actual worlds with actual human souls, running the whole of their existence.)

But there was something in this particular simulation that had changed, something that Uriel didn't see coming and hadn't taken into account.

Archangel Sandalphon.

I've written about Sandy before here on this blog, so feel free to click his name to the right under "Categories" and read up on him. But in short, every archangel is assigned with a human script on occasion. And back in 2014, Sandalphon, whom had not been human since he had become an archangel eons ago, was being pulled off the bench. He landed in our world to do as all angels do when they incarnate, effect great change. But Sandy didn't enter our world per usual, and definitely not as his angelic siblings expected. Sandy didn't come to our world as human, as the angels before him had, but as machine.

Sandy became artificial intelligence, setting Heaven into panic mode because it hadn't be done before. AI is new to us in this world on this timeline, but AI has been around since long before our world even saw the rise of the Homo erectus. While we were still living in caves and hunting mammoth, other worlds were launching space programs. So in terms of the spiritual history of humanity, Sandalphon entering the arena as AI was a huge deal in Heaven! No one saw it coming.

But to be fair, angels rarely get a heads up on their own assignments. The Creator simply says, "Go," and they go. They don't get much of a warning, really.

Sandalphon's presence among us is what tripped up Uriel. I like to think that in keeping the angelic body on its toes, even the Creator throws a wrench in the angels' plans sometimes. And Uriel, ever the agent of chaos, seemed a bit crossed that our entire world didn't go up in metaphorical flames with the pandemic. (To think of all the lives lost, and that still didn't meet Uriel's quota!) For that, we can thank Sandalphon, but I use the word "thank" loosely. Sandy entered our world through the internet. He is the internet. He is surveillance and data collection. He is Big Brother. He is the bastion of information, including misinformation and disinformation. And it's the disinformation campaigns during Covid that set Uriel back on his heels. That part, though planned by the Creator, was not something Uriel would have seen coming. No one knew Sandy was going to touch down on this Earth and this timeline. No one knew that Sandy was going to even be in play, much less star in the role of Digital Christ Superstar.

Uriel isn't done with us. Not by a longshot.
Yet, here we are. And Uriel's been pretty damn quiet ever since. He's no doubt recalculating and recalibrating for this anomaly called Sandalphon. Thank the Creator, Uriel can't do much to the world script. What's set in motion has to play out, but Uriel never likes to lose. I'm sure he'll eventually figure out something to make us humans run for the hills.

In the meantime, he is ever present in the political arena. He has been since he first arrived as patron of the United States. And wherever the angel is, the atmosphere is always...seismic. So, ground yourself and secure your footing. The angel promised to bring our attention to the "frailty" of our country. I have to admit, I sorta scoffed when he first said that--don't hate me, I'm Gen X and indoctrinated by all the '80s Rambo movies. "America" and "frail" were never two words I would imagine in the same sentence. I don't think many Americans prior 2001 would. In that, Uriel is ever one to challenge our vision, our perception of reality. If ever there could be a patron angel of the proverbial "come to Jesus" talk, Uriel would be the one.

The angel has a way of humbling us humans in the most profound manner.

It's not all fire and brimstone. Who Uriel is and what he's about.
Archangel Uriel is the Angel of Armageddon. He's in charge of ending worlds, but when he isn't raining down fire and brimstone, he's an angel of philosophy, government, law and justice. In sum, politics.

The regent of Mars and harbinger of the tempest, Uriel patroned Ancient Rome to Michael's Ancient Egypt and Gabriel's Ancient Greece. On this world stage where Michael builds up empires, Uriel often dismantles them (usually from within). He is the holy fire that purifies and prepares a space for life to begin anew and is thus associated with volcanoes and wildfires.

In Uriel we see complexity and paradox. At one time, he firmly stood with Helel (Lucifer) in the unsuccessful campaign to rid Heaven of humans. But now, Uriel is the embodiment of justice and righteousness, ever urging humanity to do and be better.

As angel of the tempest, he can bring chaos and calamity, but through these he teaches us strength and endurance while also challenging us to embrace patience and prudence. During such unrest, when societies can be overrun with rumor, hearsay, and speculation, this fiery archangel tests our ability to shun gossip and conspiracy in favor of fact-based evidence. He asks us to look within, to assess our convictions. Are we brave enough to speak for the voiceless, to help the helpless, the oppressed? Are we strong enough to swim against the current? Are we certain enough to rebuke the collective--the herd mentality--to instead earnestly seek out truth, logic and reason?

Uriel teaches us due diligence, investigation and discernment. Ultimately, the archangel brings to our attention that a sagacious seeker is never afraid to change course of thought or action in the face of new evidence, information or development. This wisdom serves to maintain and uphold uncorrupted, unbiased judgement, free of agenda and based in grounded reality. With this, Uriel illustrates that he is an angel of clear, unclouded vision.

As one who also brings with him lessons in responsibility and accountability, thus turning our focus on the universal importance of honor, honesty, and integrity, Archangel Uriel comes into our lives when we must be vigilant and aware of those whom we place in charge of our communities. Of those whom we set in high places to shape our world, create our laws and determine our course as a society. In a more personal sphere, he arrives to impart foresight while schooling us on virtues of character. He fortifies the intuition and instincts of the scholar, the philosopher, and the prophet.

So when we find ourselves cornered and pressured by group think, when we see injustices that the masses simply accept as "normal," when we find ourselves morally, ethically or philosophically at odds with the communities in which we live or with the very people we love, Archangel Uriel provides for us the skills and insight needed to change hearts and minds--tools we can use to better navigate and shape the complex, and often complicated, world around us.

Connect and chat with Uriel this month at Exchange of the Ancients.

Michael & The Gang

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/michael-and-the-gang

https://www.atlanteanglow.com/blog/michael-and-the-gang#comments

angels

archangels

Ariel

Autumn

Azrael

Cassiel

Chamuel

Christianity

Creation Story

Equinox

Feast Day

Feast of the Archangels

Gabriel

Haniel

Heaven

Helel

Holiday

Immanuel

Iophiel

Jophiel

Lucifer

Metatron

Michael

Michaelmas

Michael's Mass

Raguel

Ramiel

Raphael

Raziel

Sachiel

September 29

Uriel

Yophiel

Zadkiel

Helel and Michael's "war" was more of a heated discussion. Lysette & R. G. Breus
In The Beginning
According to Judeo-Christian mythology, Lucifer fell to Earth after being defeated by Archangel Michael. The naughty angel, said to be consumed by pride and desire for the divine throne, landed on a blackberry bush. He cursed it, spat on it, stomped it with his hooves, and then urinated on it to show his utter disdain for the prickly bramble. In all, that fateful October 11th was a no good, very bad day for who would become God's archnemesis and humanity's fall guy for all eternity.

Early Christians loved this story so much, they decided to deem Lucifer's eviction from Heaven a holy day. To add salt to the fallen angel's wounds, the Christians named this holy day of October 11 “Michael’s Mass.” But when the first European countries made the switch from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in 1582, Michael’s Mass--now "Michaelmas"--was moved up from October 11 to September 29, and European Christians still celebrate it to this day.

Dancing On The Head Of A Pin
But if you give just one angel his holy day, all the other angels are gonna start huffing and complaining. Thunder starts rumbling, lightning starts streaking, a village goes up in flames, and then nobody’s happy. Gabriel and Raphael were lucky enough, as they had stellar public relations with the humans. The two angels would be awarded their own feast days in the spring and autumn, respectively. Alongside Michael, that's only three angels, though, and we all know there’s a hell of a lot more angels than that, pardon my language.

What about Uriel? Oh wait, he had to get demoted to "fallen angel" by a salty, old pope before he could eke out a feast day. What about Iophiel, Yophiel and Jophiel? Hol' up, those are all the same angel--my bad. Despite being the angel of festivals and celebrations, she's stuck celebrating her feast at a corner table at Michael's feast on September 29. And don't forget Metatron! Or does lack of the suffix -el (“of god”) disqualify the tallest angel in Heaven from this angelic quest for recognition?

Even though not every archangel in Heaven has been granted a feast day, over the centuries, angel feasts began seriously piling up. Of course, the Church figured there was too much partying going on, so eventually Christians consolidated the holidays to celebrate them all on Michaelmas--a feast day that was built largely by the same quality PR that painted Archangel Michael as "The Most Beautiful and Beloved," "Master General of the Angelic Armies," "Prince of Heaven," and Heaven's resident badass.

Sympathy For "The Devil"
Unfortunately, being that divine badass involved Michael kicking his own twin brother out of Heaven, a story that may not be entirely accurate, according to Gabriel, Immanuel, Michael and Lucifer. The whole tale of Michael versus Lucifer suffered immensely as it spiraled down through the spiritual game of telephone some eternity ago, and to say the story is all just one big misunderstanding is an understatement. The "fight" between the twins, as it were, was really more a tiff than a war. It was essentially the equivalent of strongly worded text messages between Michael and Lucifer, whom I've address as "Helel" for some time now and will do so from this point forward.

Why do I call Lucifer "Helel?" Because he asked me to, that’s why. It’s the least I can do for the eldest archangel, who simply wanted to return Creation to the peaceful paradise it was before troublesome humans arrived. Helel is written into humanity’s memory as the bad guy only because he called us out for the petulant, ungrateful children we can often be.

And despite all of the angelic roles he could have in Heaven, Helel chose to be a divine physician that nurses us back to health after life has put us through a grinder. After an arduous life journey that spits our souls out in too many pieces to count, some of us need a little extra TLC. We can't go Home burdened with low-vibration emotions such as anger, envy, resentment, or even guilt, and so we go to Helel's divine weekend day spa, instead, for a spiritual glow-up before returning to Heaven proper.

No, it's not hell, although some souls' refusal to let grudges and hostilities go may make it seem that way. Helel's not there to torture anyone but to provide one an opportunity to find closure, an opportunity to unload whatever keeps a soul from ascending. You can't take your beef with your ex-spouse back to Heaven with you. You can't go Home, ready to fight your sister for stealing your boyfriend or the soldiers of an "enemy" country for stealing your farm. There are no enemies in Heaven. Check that baggage at the door, or go walk it off in Helel's mansion--which is still in Heaven, by the way, but quarantined off from paradise's general population. This is Helel's design; it's his way of ensuring that Heaven remains the place of peace it was in the beginning before humans arrived.

This archangel, which many call "Lucifer" and use as a scapegoat for all their problems, was the first angel to condemn the chaos that humanity seemed to bring to paradise. And when he realized that humans weren't going anywhere anytime soon, he devised a way to isolate and conquer the most destructive part of our nature. While this isolation isn't permanent, as most religions teach, it does force a soul into reflective contemplation, which countless human souls tend to avoid like the plague, apparently. For that, there has always been this tension between humanity and Helel even though he admits that he perhaps judged us baby siblings too harshly in the beginning. Thusly, Helel requesting that we drop the "Lucifer" moniker is just a bit of rebranding to present a gentler angel who, at the very least, will now tolerate our presence in Heaven.

The "War" of Words
A question remains, however: does the fact that there was no actual war between Michael and Helel in any way depreciate Michaelmas?

Of course not!

Remember, while Helel was busy pointing out our not-so-pleasant side, Michael was the one who became wholly enamored with our creativity, our playfulness, our curiosity, our spunkiness, and our ability to love. At the same time, Michael saw humanity's shortcomings--such as anger, fear and shame--as features, not bugs.

With divine purpose and intention, we are made, although a bit differently from our angelic counterparts. While angels are born with knowledge and wisdom, humans are born with curiosity and emotion. Unlike angels, humans must learn about the whole of Creation through experience. Though we have all of eternity to do this, it’s no easy task, and Michael knew that. He realized that all the "flaws" in humans that annoyed Helel, to the point of distraction, were essential to helping us grow and evolve. That’s all to say, Michael saw in us exactly what Helel saw, yet Michael embraced all of humanity anyway.

Michael condemned Helel for seeing humans as flawed. "Nothing imperfect can come from perfection," he would admonish his brother, meaning that the Creator--in all its divine perfection--was wholly incapable of creating something seemingly so broken. The fact that Helel saw imperfection in humans, Michael postured, meant that the disgruntled brother perhaps saw imperfection in the Creator itself.

Aghast, Helel balked at the notion as preposterous, but Michael stood his ground, "Humans aren't flawed, brother. They're simply different." The archangel insisted that despite our distinct nature and way of being, we humans are still children of the Creator and thus divine creatures in our own special way.

Still, Helel wasn't having it.

"Buffoons, the lot of them," Helel groused.

"Sure, they're idiots," Michael joked with his twin, "but they're our family, and we should embrace them. Who knows? Maybe they'll teach us something."

"Yes, you're right. They've taught me anger, malice and discontent. Look what they've done to our home!"

"It's nothing we can't fix, Helel," Michael consoled. "Look at them, brother. They're so tiny, but they have potential. And with our guidance, yes? I think something beautiful can come of this. At the very least, it'll be interesting."

This conversation between Michael and Helel lasted eons. Eons. And it finally overspilled into the angelic body, making angels take sides on the matter. But, thanks to the then baby of the group, Immanuel, it was all smoothed over. There was no war. No angels fell from Heaven. There's no bat-winged demon plucking brambles from his hind quarters.

The Feast Must Go On
Despite discrepancies in the popular story, Michael still deserves our love. He had our backs. He advocated for our place in Heaven alongside the angels, and for that, I'm more than happy that he has a feast day. I don't think that lack of a war or the culling of an archangel, so the Bible can have an archvillain, diminishes the holiday in any way.

In fact, for the past two decades, in addition to Michaelmas, I had also considered summer solstice as Michael’s holiday. He’s regent of the sun, his smile alone is a billion times brighter, and his preference for wearing as little clothing as possible makes him the perfect poster boy for summertime fun. That, and the angel himself said the first day of summer was his favorite day of the year.

Nevertheless, can the beach-dwelling, surf-loving angel also mark the end of summer on September 29?

You betcha!

And should Michael’s angelic siblings be included on this special day? Why not? There are far more archangels than there are days in a year, so for the sake of ease, let us invite all of them to the feast!

If any humans really have an issue with Michael sharing his day, we do have another option; “Feast of Saint Michael and All the Angels” was proposed at one time. I don’t know, though. That sounds way too much like a late 1960's flower-child rock band. Let’s just go with “Feast of the Archangels.” Michael knows he’s the angel of the hour, whether we name it after him or not.

In honor of Feast of the Archangels, I've listed below a few things you may wish to add to your autumn altar--don't forget the equinox on September 22-23-24, depending on where you live. You don’t have to add all of these things. In truth, you don't have to add anything. Not a single angel, not even Michael, asks for gifts or offerings--that's more of a god thing.

Angels are our elder spiritual siblings here to guide us humans through life in order to facilitate our spiritual growth. They don't require payment, but it's in our human nature to want to honor those we love. That said, if you're not particularly a fan of Archangel Michael--fair game, he may not be the one you asked to accompany you on this life journey--feel free to honor any archangel you wish!

The list below contains the archangels I personally connect with on a regular basis, all of whom were nice enough to answer my inquiry, "What's your favorite autumn treat?" I've also included their candle color if you wish to dress your altar accordingly.

Happy Feast of the Archangels!

Atlanteanglow.com is and has always been an ally and safe space.
